Iris L. Alameda Martínez Boquerón Wildlife Refuge
Cabo Rojo
The Iris L. Alameda Martínez Boquerón Wildlife Refuge is a refuge managed by the Puerto Rico Department of Natural and Environmental Resources located in the Boquerón ward of Cabo Rojo. It encompasses extensive mangrove wetlands and coastal marshes that provide critical habitat for migratory and resident waterbirds, including threatened species. The refuge offers bird watching, hiking along interpretive trails, and environmental education activities in one of the most important mangrove wetlands in southwestern Puerto Rico.
