University of Puerto Rico Botanical Garden

The University of Puerto Rico Botanical Garden is a 289-cuerda (approximately 144-acre) botanical garden located in Río Piedras, San Juan, at the intersection of PR-1 and Calle Guaracanal. Opened to the public on March 10, 1971, it serves as a scientific, educational, and cultural center with over 30,000 tropical, native, and endangered plant species. It features a Heliconia Garden, Orchid Garden, Monet Garden, Palmetum with 125 palm species, Native Taíno Garden, Medicinal Plants Garden, and a herbarium with over 36,000 preserved specimens. Modern sculptures by Puerto Rican artists are displayed throughout, and the garden offers workshops, seminars, and guided tours.
