State Forest

New Millennium State Forest

San Juan

Nuevo Milenio State Forest is a secondary moist forest of approximately 400 acres in Río Piedras, east of the University of Puerto Rico Botanical Garden, having regenerated after decades of deforestation. Incorporated in 2003 into the San Juan Ecological Corridor, it contains native trees such as carob, yagrumo, and palo de pollo. It offers accessible trails for all skill levels and picnic areas within an urban setting.
