Julia de Burgos Park
Carolina
Julia de Burgos Park is an urban recreational park in Carolina, inaugurated in 1991 by the municipality as the Julia de Burgos Mausoleum and Commemorative Park following the return of the poet's remains to Puerto Rico. It offers an approximately 5-mile round-trip trail for walking and jogging, with exercise stations along the route, picnic areas, benches, restrooms, and the Aquasol children's water park. A life-size sculpture of Julia de Burgos, surrounded by stone columns inscribed with verses from her work and a mosaic mural of her portrait, honors the Puerto Rican poet (1914–1953), recognized as one of the most important lyrical voices of the Spanish Caribbean.
