Vega Alta
Vega State Forest is a subtropical moist forest of 1,150 acres located in Vega Alta and Vega Baja in Puerto Rico's northern karst zone, designated as a nature reserve in 1952. It plays an important role in protecting the region's underground water supplies and harbors 37 documented bird species, including 3 endemic: the Puerto Rican nightjar, Puerto Rican bullfinch, and Puerto Rican vireo. Part of the forest is open to the public in Vega Alta.
