In the Jobos Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Scout Víctor Avilés Pabón from Troop 2815 has left a lasting contribution that supports both scientific work and the visitor experience.

His Eagle Scout Service Project focused on building a specialized gazebo designed to make the work of biologists and field technicians easier. Strategically located right by the shoreline, the structure allows staff to disembark with animals and conduct necropsies and scientific analyses safely, comfortably, and protected from the elements.

But the impact goes beyond research. The gazebo also serves as a rest and orientation point for visitors, enhancing the ecotourism experience and fostering appreciation for this valuable ecosystem.

Víctor’s work shows how a Scout can identify a real need, mobilize resources, and create a structure that benefits both the scientific community and the general public. A true example of leadership and service.
