Description

The hike to El Morrillo in the Humacao Nature Reserve is an easy and mostly flat walk that winds through mangroves and lagoons. It ends with a short, slightly steep climb up a small hill to explore historic abandoned World War II bunkers and panoramic ocean views. Built by the US Army during World War II, these abandoned concrete observation posts were designed to watch for enemy ships and submarines in the Caribbean.
