Description

Camino Zanja Fría is a short, flat trail within the Caño Tiburones Nature Reserve leading to the Zanja Fría Spring, a cold, clear freshwater pool traditionally used for cooling off. The route, under half a kilometer, runs mostly in full sun, so bringing water, sunscreen, and a hat is recommended. The terrain can be damp or slippery after rain, so footwear with good traction is advised. Since the area is part of a wetland home to wildlife — including caimans, an invasive species reported in Caño Tiburones — visitors should keep their distance from the water outside the marked pool and closely supervise children. As throughout the reserve, visitors are asked to pack out all their trash and, where possible, pick up any additional litter they find to help preserve this natural space.
