Description

The Laguna Kiani Boardwalk is a short elevated wooden path within the Vieques National Wildlife Refuge that winds through a healthy mangrove forest, home to all four of Puerto Rico's mangrove species: red, black, white, and buttonwood. The flat, family-friendly walk offers quiet lagoon views, good birdwatching, and frequent sightings of fiddler crabs. Laguna Kiani is one of the Caribbean's bioluminescent lagoons, but the boardwalk closes at dusk and swimming or fishing is not permitted, so nighttime bioluminescence is instead viewed at nearby Mosquito Bay, not here.
