Tradewinds Trail is a very challenging, 4.6-mile designated National Recreation Trail that traverses Montane and Cloud forests through the Wilderness area of El Yunque National Forest, gaining 1,096 feet in elevation. The route connects to the Sabana Trail and culminates at El Toro Peak, passing through diverse forest ecosystems with abundant opportunities for wildlife and plant viewing. Between El Toro Peak and the Tradewinds/Río Sabana junction, landslides and dense vegetation may require route-finding skills. Minimal cell coverage; prepare thoroughly before setting out.
