Description

The East tunel, known also as Túnel Negro is a former railroad tunnel in the Terranova neighborhood of Quebradillas, near PR-2 and the Guajataca Overlook. It was built in the early 20th century by the American Railroad Company of Porto Rico as part of the rail line connecting San Juan and Ponce. Due to its length and curve, the far end cannot be seen from the entrance, which gives the tunnel its name.

The trail follows the Guajataca River valley and passes the remains of an old bridge before reaching the tunnel. A flashlight is recommended, since the inside is completely dark.
