Description

The Cerrote de Peñuelas is a short but demanding mountain route, ideal for hikers seeking steep climbs and far-reaching panoramic views. Located in the southern region of Puerto Rico, the trail has a round-trip distance of approximately 1.3 kilometers (0.8 miles) and an elevation gain of 198 meters (649 feet), reaching an altitude of nearly 3,300 feet above sea level. The route is characterized by a steady and steep incline along a technical access road, which culminates at the summit where communication towers are located. The peak offers a 360-degree panoramic view stretching from the southern coast to the mountain ranges of the island's interior. Hikers are advised to use footwear with good traction, sun protection, and adequate hydration due to the direct sun exposure during the hike.
