Description

A short trail on the eastern side of the Vieques National Wildlife Refuge leading to secluded Novillo Beach on the island's south coast. The route crosses varied terrain — seagrass flats, land crab nesting grounds, red clay, and gray mangrove silt — under a canopy of thatch palm and vanilla vines. It's a moderately difficult hike with some rocky stretches, so sturdy footwear and water are recommended. The trail connects onward to Pirate's Cove, so watch trail markers closely on the way back to catch the correct turn.
